News photograph dated December 23, 1929 captioned: Hudson River ferryboat rammed by car float - four hundred passengers landed safely. New York City -- The Ferryboat "West Point", operating between Weehawken, N.J. and West 42nd Street, New York, was rammed by a car float while in the middle of the Hudson River. The passengers, estimated to number about 400, were landed safely and the boat was docked at Weehawken. Photo shows -- a closeup of the spot on the boat which was struck at the water line. Notice the prow of the tugboat tied up alongside to support the damaged ferry.
