Boys Versus Girls Baseball - 1974

Title: Boys Versus Girls Baseball - 1974
Description: James Gallombardo sent in this clipping from the Hudson Dispatch about a 1974 battle of the sexes on the baseball diamond. He writes:
On Tuesday, May 28, 1974, I was the 11-year old starting pitcher for the Weehawken Elks Little League team when we played the 13-year old 'PARS,' a Girls All-star softball team in baseball at Weehawken Stadium. It was a game that the "Dispatch" dubbed, "The first-ever Battle of the Sexes Baseball Game at Weehawken Stadium" and what the Jersey Journal stated was "the first game of its kind in the county."
I attached an electronic copy of the articles from both newspapers who covered the game that evening. I could not believe how many spectators were in attendance - the concrete stands were packed!
